Freebie sampler on Facebook page

Inspiration?

Fresh strawberries of which I made a nice creamy filling and put in parfait glasses for dessert.

The name of the sampler is "The Fruit of the Spirit: Love"

If you like strawberries, you will like this sampler!!

All you need to do to print it is go to Feathers in the Nest FB page
You can click directly on Abbie's pic below and it will take you to the page.

Abbie says she loves you this morning!

What I'm up to?  well Summer cleaning still.  This cabinet was headed in a truck to the dump and I got it free from a very good friend. It's repurposed now to go in my stitching studio. I also have a small CD player to put in the top to have some instrumental music while I work.

You have to be in the right place at the right time. I can't believe this was going to the dump.

I'm still working at cleaning out clothes and such to donate as well. Yesterday I cleaned one closet out, 3 more to go.

We have 2 guest bedrooms and changed linens and replaced quilts in one of them, an old, old, quilt. Changed the curtains to lace to let in the sunlight and it seems like a bigger room.

Letting go of shoes and clothes is hard for me and for what reason I don't know. But simplifying my life seems to be reducing alot of stress already.

For me, alot of things donating are when I ask these questions:

is it old and nonfunctional?

is there a bad memory attached?

is it worn out?

faded?

does it have shoulder pads? :P

if yes, then they are going to Goodwill.

I hope your weekend is full of sunshine and stitching!

Sampler Floss Organizer

Hello Monday morning!

It's bright, sunny and cool here in the mountains this morning, just a lovely day!

Last night I continued on with organizing my stitching studio with a crate I got from the junkin' store. I stained it in Colonial Maple which will go well with the other things in the space.
I saved alot by getting this and staining. The purpose?  To organize my sampler threads in floss bags.
I use the floss bag system and have one box for 12 years that holds ALL my DMC and it's packed!

I presently have the Gentle Art, Crescent Colors, Silks, and Weeks Dye Works on large rings with floss bags. Now I can organize and retrieve more easily. The sections are perfect size for the floss bags and they will be arranged in alphabetical order and by company.

I think this was basically a wine crate in pine before. If you use a floss bag system for your threads, you might want to economize and find one of these. You can paint or stain it to your liking and save tons on wood organizers for your floss!

I finished another design last night as well. Inspired by the SuperMoon of the weekend, where the moon was closest to the Earth, I designed a sampler called June Moon. Be on the lookout for it soon!

Well, off to do chores and continue Spring/Summer cleaning. I hope you have a great day!

Purl of Wisdom~~ Remember that just as old crates can be repurposed at any time, so is our life. We are never too old to be repurposed in a direction that is totally different, yet at the same time, serving others, our family and God.

Organizing for the studio

Saturday night was spent organizing my knitting stash. I put all my accumulated straight needles in a large flower vase I had and another one as well for a few circulars.

The large basket came from a junkin' store I perused yesterday as I was on a mission for this to store all my skeins. Now it's ready to put in my stitching studio with all needles organized, and much stash to knit.

It's pretty heavy. Mr Darcy is going to take it down to the studio today.

How do you organize your yarns and needles?  I know if feels good to claim the sofa and dining room table again!!!!
